Psychologist’s Assessment

Psychologist’s assessment helps understand psychological symptoms and plan further treatment.

In a psychologist’s assessment, the psychologist evaluates your situation and well-being using scientific methods. The goal is to understand the underlying issues causing symptoms, describe these symptoms, and provide recommendations for further treatment.

An assessment provides information and can also serve as treatment: understanding one’s situation can improve well-being and provide answers. An assessment is particularly useful when considering the most effective treatment options, such as therapy or rehabilitation.

In a psychologist’s assessment there are 3–10 meetings and a wide range of research methods are used. The psychologist can also conduct a neurocognitive function assessment, which examines memory, reasoning, concentration, and executive function. A more limited assessment is called a psychologist’s evaluation which consists of one or two meetings.
